Our services are categorized and detailed as follows:

1. Marine Division

  1. Cargo Surveys on general and refrigerated cargoes
    • To supervise stuffing, de-stuffing or transfer of containerized cargoes.
    • To inspect container to ascertain nature and damage or ensure cargo-worthiness and suitability for stuffing of intended cargoes.
    • To weigh and/or measure packages of shipments.
    • To perform pre-shipment survey on quantity and condition of cargoes and packing materials and draw samples if required.
    • To perform quality survey on cargoes according to submitted specifications, requirements and contract samples.
    • To check stock, supervise destruction of damaged cargoes.
    • To attend on board ocean-going vessels and perform survey on damaged cargoes due to marine casualty, heavy weather etc., and hatch survey.
    • To attend on board ocean-going vessels or barges to supervise discharge, loading of cargoes, ensure suitability of stowage, security of lashing and sufficiency of chocking and shoring.
  2. Damaged Dry and Wet (Non-Liquid and Liquid) Cargoes Surveys
    • To attend destined location and perform survey on damaged cargo to ascertain nature, extent and cause of damage (comment as fully as possible on when, where, how and why loss/damage occurred.)
    • To assist claimant to reserve their rights against liable carriers and/or parties and to aid the claimant in the proper performance of their duties.
    • To discuss and negotiate with cargo claimant to mitigate and summarize cargo claim, on “Without Prejudice” basis and try to reach agreement on best feasible method to dispose of, repair, reinstate damaged cargo or arrange alternative sale.
    • To draw samples of damaged cargo for laboratory tests and analysis if necessary.
    • To appoint consultants, experts, if it is deemed necessary and comment on remedial method, if possible, with a view to minimize the loss and avert further delay, for installation, testing, commissioning and processing, especially on damaged machineries, in P.R. China.
    • To recommend alternative packing, handling, transportation methods, etc., for future shipments, in order to minimize and avert further transit losses.
  3. Salvage Sales (on a “no-cure-no-pay” basis)
    • To liaise and arrange appropriate prospective salvage buyer(s) for the purchase of damaged cargo;
    • To issue tender document to the prospective salvage buyer(s) for giving offer;
    • To set deadline for receiving salvage tenders;
    • To assist the successful salvage buyer to complete the necessary formalities with cargo underwriters or claimant for subsequent delivery of the cargo.
  4. Small Craft (Pleasure Craft. Junk, Motor Launch) Surveys
    • To survey and investigate the nature, extent and cause of damage after marine casualty and adjust the claim according to reasonableness and casualty-related repair cost, policy terms and conditions.
    • To perform condition survey prior to arrangement of insurance cover or delivery to buyer.
    • To evaluate market value
  5. Marine Surveys

  6. Investigation on all aspects
    • Marine casualties, e.g. collision, stranding, grounding, fire, explosion handling and heavy damages etc.
    • Damage to hull and machinery including adjustment of repair cost if required.
    • Marine fraudulent claims
    • Mysterious transit losses
    • Shortage, contamination of liquid cargoes
    • Inherent nature of commodities and/or packing materials
    • Insufficiency and unsuitability of packing and preparation of cargoes
    • Condensation/water-damage during marine transit
    • Pre-loading/shipment damage
    • Robbery or theft of containerized cargoes
    • Burglary or theft of raw materials and/or semi-finished products in storage places or factories, covered by extended marine cargo transit policies.
    • Third party liability

  7. Risk Assessment Survey and Loss Prevention
    • To perform surveys at warehouse, wharf and terminals, etc., on packing of cargoes and environment, etc.
    • To comment on the methods of packing, cargo handling procedures and logistics management, etc.
    • To recommend policy terms and conditions, exclusions and deductibles, etc.
  8. Loss Adjustment
    • To examine all available claim documents, re-inspect damaged cargoes and/or investigate further on proximate cause of loss or damage, if necessary, discuss and negotiate under similar procedures of damaged cargo surveys.
    • To adjust the claim, by virtue of policy terms and conditions.
    • To comment on the policy liability.
    • To comment on the third party/recovery aspect.
    • To issue a detailed Final Marine Loss Adjusters Report solely for use by our principals and their legal advisors.
  9. Average and Claims Settling Agents
    • To sign Average Form and Guarantee Form;
    • To survey and adjust cargo claims with procedure of (B) above;
    • To collect all documentation of claim;
    • To settle cargo claims, on behalf of Cargo Underwriters;
    • To obtain Discharge & Subrogation Form(s) by claimant and sometime also by relating parties.
  10. Recovery
    • To take recovery action on behalf of clients (usually Cargo Underwriters) against carriers or liable parties on a “no-cure-no-pay” basis, always providing that full services should be rendered by us, including cargo survey, investigation, adjustment and settlement.
